Prestige in Society and Marketing which supports it
It took me a while to overcome the horrible notion that someone with high potential1, (1) owes the world to fully embrace it and use it wisely, and (2) might/should feel special about it.
While the first aspect is something I might discuss elsewhere
Maybe it’s the way we got raised in (early) capitalist society, and not even by our parents, but by all cultural melange of phenomena a young generation was submerged in - colourful magazines, tv adverts, and all that visual vomit - yelling at us - “you’re worth it”, showed smiling, successful people who seem happy because they just consumed new product.
I don’t despise the product itself, I’m not even near. But promoting anything as luxury or prestigious, or even special to some degree - it is a poison for our souls.
